Privacy

Privacy policy.

What we collect, and what we don't.

This policy is written to match exactly what Disclosr does, not a generic template.

What we collect

Disclosr offers optional accounts. If you create one, we collect the email address and password you provide -- your password is never stored in readable form, only a one-way cryptographic hash. There is still no tracking or analytics script on this site; we don't use cookies for advertising or analytics, only a single small cookie needed to keep you signed in.

Account preferences

If you save preferences on your account -- which categories you care about, a home location and search radius -- that information is stored against your account and is never shown to any other visitor, never published, and never used in any public listing. It's used solely to personalize what you see when you're signed in.

Political-lean preference (optional)

Setting a political-lean preference is entirely optional, off by default, and requires a separate, explicit confirmation step distinct from creating an account or saving your other preferences. It's stored in a separate part of our database from the rest of your account information, is never included in any public page, export, or API response, and can be removed at any time from your account page without deleting your account.

Deleting your account

You can permanently delete your account, including all saved preferences and any political-lean preference, from your account page at any time. Your preferences and any political-lean preference are removed immediately, with no retention period. Your core account record (email, in hashed form only) follows the same immediate-deletion policy -- nothing lingers afterward.

Business accounts

Business accounts (see Add your business) collect contact details (owner name, phone, email), business address, and category, plus any optional social links or values statement you choose to add. A submission is reviewed before anything goes live on the map -- see Methodology for the verification standard every listing has to meet.

Stance tips

The report form for sourced political info doesn't require an account. We collect the business name/address you enter, the source link and your description of what it shows, and, only if you choose to provide it, your email for follow-up questions. A tip is reviewed by hand and never published on its own -- see Methodology.

If you contact us

Whatever you share when you reach out (see Contact) is used only to respond to you and, where relevant, to verify or update a business listing.
